From Struggle to Strength: My Journey to Coaching
Meet Tina
I was born and raised in Marlton, New Jersey, a suburban, family-friendly, safe community that offers a blend of small-town charm with access to big-city amenities, making it a great place to grow up. From an outside observer, life was perfect. Little did those around me know that my father was an alcoholic, and little did I know the profound impact that would later have on every facet of my being. Growing up in an alcoholic home, I experienced deep emotional trauma that shaped how I related to myself and others. I learned to hide my true self to avoid conflict and disappointment, repress my emotions to cope with the chaos around me, and manage relationships in unhealthy ways out of fear and survival. These patterns manifested in a variety of ways: concealing my emotions and truths from others to protect myself, taking on more responsibility than I could handle in an attempt to control my environment, and living with an overwhelming fear of rejection and abandonment. I internalized shame, constantly feeling like I was “not enough” or unworthy of love and acceptance. These unresolved emotions and patterns led to struggles with anxiety, depression, and, eventually, a devastating addiction to alcohol and drugs as a way to numb the pain and escape the weight of my unresolved trauma.
Like so many others, my relationship with alcohol started innocently—social gatherings, winding down after a long day, or a quick escape from stress. But what seemed harmless at first slowly tightened its grip. Before I knew it, I wasn’t just drinking to celebrate or relax—I was drinking to cope, to numb, to survive.
Alcohol became my shield against the emotions I didn’t want to face—stress, anxiety, fear of failure, and the relentless pressure of life. But instead of easing my struggles, it only buried them deeper. I told myself I was in control, but the truth was, I had lost it. I tried to quit, time and time again, convincing myself that “just one drink” wouldn’t hurt—only to find myself trapped in the same cycle, sinking further each time.
After nearly 20 years of addiction, my breaking point arrived in a moment of brutal clarity. I woke up one morning and didn’t recognize the person staring back at me. I felt hollow, physically drained, and completely disconnected from who I once was. My dreams felt out of reach. My purpose had faded. I had destroyed relationships I cherished and crossed boundaries I swore I never would. For the first time, I was truly afraid—afraid of myself, afraid of what I might do, and terrified of where this path would lead if I didn’t find a way out.
My journey began with me asking for help.
Though my journey to a solid foundation of recovery was incredibly messy and difficult, it was undoubtedly the best decision I have ever made. Deciding to overcome drinking was not just a decision to stop a harmful habit; it was a commitment to reclaim my life, my health, and my future.
Many years into my recovery journey, I experienced an emotional meltdown. It was one of the most overwhelming, disorienting, and intense experiences I have ever endured. It was as if everything I had been holding inside or suppressing had all come to the surface at once. It was a wave of intense feelings – grief, frustration, sadness, anger, and fear – that I couldn’t escape or make sense of. I felt emotionally paralyzed and detached from everything around me.
What I soon came to realize was that I been living on autopilot; merely existing. Overcoming this feeling was an incredible shift. It meant that I was waking up to life and taking full control of my decisions, my actions, and my intentions. I had been reacting to situations instead of consciously choosing to respond. Breaking free from this felt like I was stepping out of a fog and into clarity where I could actively shape my life rather than just allow it to pass by without truly engaging with it.
I had begun my personal development journey to gain an understanding of the who, what, when, where, and why of myself. Unlike my journey of Recovery, this new path is a deeply transformative and sometimes challenging journey. It’s about consciously working toward becoming a better version of myself — growing not just in skills and knowledge, but also in self-awareness, emotional intelligence, and my overall approach to life. It’s a lifelong process that is both fulfilling and rewarding, though not always easy.
I’m a Holistic Life Coach with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and a background as a former Substance Abuse Counselor, offering a compassionate, integrative approach to healing and personal growth. I also studied at the Institute for Integrative Nutrition (IIN), where I explored the deep connection between mind, body, and spirit through a holistic lens.
At IIN, I learned that wellness isn’t just about what’s on your plate — it’s about how you nourish your entire life. Their teachings emphasize bio-individuality—the understanding that there’s no one-size-fits-all solution—and that true well-being comes from honoring your unique needs, rhythms, and lived experience.
I was also introduced to the concept of primary foods: the emotional, spiritual, and relational aspects of life that feed us just as much as nutrition does. This includes our relationships, sense of purpose, creativity, joy, rest, and connection to self. These insights continue to shape my work and the way I hold space for others.
Alongside this foundation, I hold additional training in mindfulness, meditation, breathwork, and energy healing. These practices support the inner work of building self-trust, cultivating self-love, and creating a more balanced, meaningful life.
But more than any training or education, what truly qualifies me is my lived experience — and my deep, ongoing commitment to walking this path alongside you. I know how transformational mindset shifts can be, and I’m here to support you as you gently return to yourself with clarity, courage, and care.
I’m deeply committed to growth — both personally and professionally.
I regularly immerse myself in workshops, ongoing education, and current research to stay grounded in the evolving work of mindset, emotional well-being, and holistic healing.
I understand what it feels like to be stuck. I’ve faced my own battles with self-doubt, overwhelm, and uncertainty. There was a time when I couldn’t see the light at the end of the tunnel, and I found myself constantly questioning my worth and capabilities. But through my own personal growth journey and the guidance of incredible mentors, I learned something transformative: the way we think about ourselves, and the world directly shapes our experiences.
This realization sparked my passion for coaching. I saw how powerful it was to change the narrative in my mind—and how it allowed me to pursue my goals with clarity and confidence. It led me to create the life I wanted, and now I’m dedicated to helping you do the same.
I’ve always believed in the power of the mind, but I didn’t fully realize how transformative mindset work could be until I applied it in my own life. After years of feeling stuck and frustrated, I finally took the leap and shifted my approach. This decision changed everything.
That’s why I became a holistic life coach: to help people just like you get out of their own way and unlock their fullest potential.
Whether it’s working through fear, rebuilding confidence, or learning how to take aligned, intentional action — my work is centered on helping you develop the tools and inner resilience needed to support lasting, soul-led growth.
My approach is rooted in compassion, clarity, and self-awareness. I don’t believe in “fixing” — I believe in gently uncovering the thought patterns and beliefs that are holding you back and replacing them with a mindset that nurtures your healing and empowers your next steps.
Rather than traditional coaching sessions, I now offer guided practices and reflections that allow you to explore your mindset at your own pace — in a space that’s grounded, nurturing, and fully yours. You’ll be invited to soften out of old narratives, create new pathways forward, and build a deeper sense of trust in your own process.
I integrate principles from Cognitive Behavioral Coaching and Mindfulness-Based approaches to offer practical, compassionate tools that support lasting inner change. My intention is to help you create a mindset that aligns with your values, your goals, and the way you truly want to feel.
The work I offer is gentle, yet rooted in real transformation. Through guided reflection, nervous system support, and mindset practices, you’ll be invited to explore patterns, shift perspectives, and begin moving forward with greater clarity and confidence.
This space is for you if you’re ready to:
• Release negative self-talk and soften into self-worth
• Build confidence rooted in truth, not performance
• Clarify your goals and take meaningful, soul-aligned action
• Navigate stress and overwhelm with more grace
• Shift from fear into possibility and trust your inner wisdom
You don’t have to force your way forward. You just have to begin — with intention, presence, and the tools to support you along the way.
I’ve created this space to support you in working through the challenges that keep you stuck — not just to help you cope, but to gently guide you toward thriving. Through reflection, nervous system support, and intentional mindset practices, you’ll be invited to reconnect with your inner wisdom and create lasting, meaningful change.
If you’re ready to shift your perspective, release what’s no longer serving you, and build a mindset that supports the life you truly want — this is your invitation.
I believe in your potential. And I’ve built this experience to help you remember it, trust it, and live it — one intentional breath at a time.
Let’s start this journey together.
